Recently, Mrs Zhang Guojin, dean of School of International Education, was awarded the medal of Taras Shevchenko’s 200 Anniversary by Viktor Kalashnyk, the vice mayor of Kremenchuk, Ukraine, to reward her outstanding contributions to the promotion of international cooperation in education and culture of Ukraine.
In recent 10 years, Prof. Zhang has been actively promoting the cooperation between Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Ukraine universities in education and culture. With her efforts, partnerships are built between Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Ukraine universities, such as Dnepropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport and Kremenchug Mykhailo Ostrogradskyi National University, and nearly one hundred of Ukrainian students have studied at LZJTU.
Taras Shevchenko’s medal is to reward the people who have made great contributions to Ukraine’s peace, reunification and development .

(Taras Shevchenko was a Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure, as well as folklorist and ethnographer. His literary heritage is regarded to be the foundation of modern Ukrainian literature and, to a large extent, the modern Ukrainian language.)
