On the morning of February 26, Zhang Shizhen, Vice Governor of Gansu Province, accompanied by Jia Ning, Deputy Secretary General of the Provincial Government, Wang Haiyan, Director of the Provincial Department of Education, and Zhang Baojun, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Government paid a visit to LJU. The purpose of this visit is to check what measures are taken to prevent and control novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19). During the visit, vice governor also extended condolences to international students and foreign teachers who were still staying in the university. Representatives of LJU include Party Secretary Yang Zijiang, principal Li Yinzhen, vice principals Chen Xingchong, and Ma Jundang.

After listening to the report made by two vice principals of LJU on novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) prevention and control, Vice Governor Zhang emphasized that as the new semester was approaching, universities should fully understand the extreme importance and toughness of the epidemic prevention and control work once the students return to school and the size of the staff gathers. He also insisted that it was still not a good time to be relaxed and should make overall plans for the opening of the new semester and strive to achieve the "double victory" of epidemic prevention and control.

Afterwards, Vice Governor Zhang and his party came to the International Students Apartment to extend condolences to the international students and foreign teachers who were staying within the campus during the winter holidays. He expressed thanks to their support for China and hoped that these foreign friends could pass on the courage and responsibility China has shown during the fight against the epidemic to their home countries.


The heads from relevant departments of LJU such as the General Administrative Office, the International Exchange Office, the School of International Education, and the Security Office also accompanied the inspection and condolences visit.
